Absolutely No Reason to be Testing on Baby Animals!

Absolutely No Reason to be Testing on Baby Animals!
The University of Washington, continues to perform sickening experiments on monkeys. Employees at the school perform grisly vivisections -- experiments on live animals -- drilling holes into the skulls of monkeys, implanting coils on their eyes, and tearing infant monkeys away from their mothers to intentionally cause psychological trauma. Please sign this petition to demand that the National Institute of Health stop sending taxpayer dollars to the University of Washington to fund these cruel and unnecessary experiments. The primate research taking place at U of Washington is scientifically meaningless. Experiments on baby monkeys are fraudulent and cannot be extrapolated to humans, but U of Washington vivisectors routinely perpetrate barbaric experiments on baby monkeys such as inducing convulsions, disfiguring eyes, suffocating them, torturing babies while still in their mothers wombs, causing deformities and more. If the babies don't die on their own, they are killed at one year of age and thrown away. For this the vivisectors received over $18 million of our tax dollars between 2010-2011 alone and another $12 million to breed baby monkeys for other laboratories to torture. Other schools, including Harvard University, have been forced to shut down their live animal experiments -- if enough of us speak up, we can get the U of Washington to do the same. Doing inhumane tests on animals is one small step away from using humans!

Barbaric! End the Yulin Dog Meat Slaughter
Thousands of dogs, many of them are stolen beloved pets, captured and transported over long distances under horrific conditions to Yulin, a city in China\'s Guangxi Autonomous Region. There, they\'re held in crowded cages without food or water until they are killed. Often, they are beaten and their throats are slit in front of other terrified animals by heartless dog meat traders. Most Chinese citizens reject this practice, and .ECO is committed to supporting them in ending this horrendous festival. Last year, thanks to overwhelming international pressure, Yulin authorities announced that they would not support the festival. The result was a subdued event and fewer dogs slaughtered than the previous two years. More recently, the authorities have claimed that the festival won\'t happen this year, but the dog meat traders will continue to stage the event with or without official endorsement. Join us now with the hundreds of thousands of advocates who have taken action against the Yulin Dog Meat Festival. Please sign our petition now to urge the Yulin authorities to intervene and end mass dog slaughter in the name of a festival. No one eats their best friends!

Why does anyone need to eat endangered Whales?
Hunting and eating whale meat looks more like a case of misplaced patriotism than anything else, Iceland has stubbornly refused to stop whaling for decades, despite international condemnation. Little economic and even less cultural benefit comes from whaling, but still Iceland continues. It’s exploiting the “scientific” loophole, although of course the hunt is actually for meat, much of which is sold to tourists and almost all the rest exported to Japan. Icelanders themselves eat very little whale meat – it’s not supposed to be very nice – and demand is rapidly dropping in Japan. However, Iceland isn’t planning to stop whaling at all. It’s planning to kill more whales. The government recently announced that in 2014, it plans to kill six percent more minke whales – that’s 13 more individuals. These little whales, the smallest of the baleen whales, face constant threats from pollution, entanglement in fishing gear and climate change. The last thing they need is more hunting. Tell Iceland that national pride shouldn’t and doesn’t come from annihilating whales and to turn its attention to something productive, elsewhere

    The .ECO New Deal

    The .ECO New Deal
It couldn\'t be more obvious that the U.S. needs major environmental and economic reform — moderate incremental compromise on climate change will NOT do the trick. The US lawmakers need to call for a .ECO Revolution! A cooperation with all hands on deck made to succeed. Of all the things the government spends money on, a massive plan that puts people to work revitalizing the critical infrastructure, reducing dependency upon carbon sourced fuels, create jobs which cannot be out sourced, keeps the economy thriving, and puts us on the path toward 100% resiliency seems like one of the most worthwhile expenditures. While the “Green New Deal” is picking up steam, it needs support as a first step. The plan is intensely popular with Americans — it has 81 percent support from people after they\'ve heard about it. This is the kind of platform that has the power to save humankind from a dying planet. And if that\'s not enough, this is the kind of platform which can restore citizens believe in governmental institutions. It is a path to demonstrate the greatness of American know how and determination to do the “right thing” in the face of adversity. We are looking for brave and conscientious leaders who care and want to create a clean and prosperous future for all. Join US in promoting this for All ~ Because You Care!

Protect YellowStone National Park Wolves Now!
At least eight Yellowstone National Park wolves have been shot and killed along the park boundary since hunting season began. Five of these animals were wearing radio collars and were the subjects of intensive conservation research study. Wolves roam widely in search of food or mates. It's natural for them to occasionally wander briefly outside the park's invisible borders, but that shouldn't make them fair game for hunters. The killing of Yellowstone wolves is unconscionable. Tell the governors of the surrounding states to shut down the wolf hunt immediately in lands adjacent to the park.

Citing the “abhorrent” mass slaughter of millions of dogs and cats for their meat each year, including stolen pets, the House of Representatives committee on Wednesday adopted a resolution urging nine Asian countries to outlaw the practice. \\r\\nThe resolution “has tremendous bipartisan support,” fueled by “serious animal cruelty and public health concerns.” Public health officials have raised concerns about rabies or poison in the meat. \\r\\n“In American and most western cultures, we cherish dogs and cats as more than just random animals. They serve as therapy animals, search and rescue assistants, police dogs that aid with drug and bomb searches, they serve at airport security, they are companions, and they are often cherished family members. The extreme cruelty that these animals suffer is abhorrent and we shouldn’t turn a blind eye to these practices.” \\r\\nThe resolution, highlights the annual Lychee and Dog Meat Festival in Yulin — a perennial target for animal rights activists. In 2016, a petition calling on that Chinese city’s government to end the event attracted 11 million signatures. That same year, Hollywood stars including Matt Damon, Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara condemned the festival. See video(Warning! Graphic!!!) \\r\\nHumane Society International and others animal protection groups put the number of dogs killed in Asia for meat every year at roughly 30 million. Rep. Titus said at the hearing that 10 million cats suffer the same fate. \\r\\nThe resolution says that “a considerable number of the dogs and cats in the dog and cat meat trade are stolen pets still wearing collars when they reach the slaughterhouses.” It also declares that eating dog or cat meat “is not part of mainstream Asian culinary practice,” pointing to a June 2016 poll by a Chinese animal welfare group that found 69.5 percent of Chinese respondents had never consumed it. \\r\\nThe measure calls on the governments of the countries listed to enforce laws banning dog or cat meat trade and to curb sales of “leather or fur byproducts” from that activity. It also calls on executive branch officials to raise the issue in talks with their foreign counterparts
